Guth & Tuairim, Bealtaine 1980

tQRE OF SUCCES§: With the success of 'MY Perfect Cousin' Sire Records are promoting Undertones long awaited album 'HJpnotised'. · The first 20,000 pressed had a free poster of the Derr,y stars enclosed in the sleeve. Sire are certain that the al~ will be a smash chart hit for the ba,ys. We still await a debut single from U2 who have signed an international contract with Island, and The Lookalikes currently on a British tour with Thin Lizzy have signed to. Riva Records, lets hope that success can come their way. CH4RT FIA5CO: The top twenty is said to be a guideline to the popularity in music trends, but the so called charts published by Star, and broadcast by several RTE Radio 2 sponsored shows, are a true sick joke. For artists to be included in such ill– informed charts is an insult to their image. To state that 'Bunch of Tyme 1 by Foster & Allen is number one is certainly not true. From reports around the country the number one Irish manufactured single was 'Lanigan's Ball' by the Bards. I feel that its bigh time that the Irish recording industry re-united the national and international charts again, and not the present insult to the so called musical trends that we read in Star or RTE Radio 2 sponsored shows. The public are not foolst MR ROGERS IS BACK: After the success of 1 Coward of the County' Kenny Rogers is back with 'Don't Fall in Love With A Dreamer' his latest single, and a track from his new album 1 Gideon'. Kenny is joined on the song by Kim Carnes. Slim Whitman also has a great collection on his fourteen track new album 'Till We Meet Again'. Roly Daniles has issued Mr Jones as his new single, a track from his altium 'Lets Fall in Love'. Northern songstress Leon has also a great country single issued 'You'we Made My Life Complete'. Good sounds for our countr,y cousins. HAPPY BIRTFJ)AY: RTE Radio 2 celebrates its first birthday. The sounds have been good, but with Fab Vinnie departed, will it be tarry Gogan or Ronan Gollins, who'll become the statiQns number one presenter? I feel that Head of Radio 2, Billy Wall, has not alone proved that there was a need for the station, but that they had the right voices to launch the service.
