Theoretically, all they require is an occasional mopping with a damp duster. But in actual practice, grease from fingers and other oil deposits in our modem atmosphere cannot be removed by plain water alone. So it is still common sense to use a furniture polish. - possibly with a very low waX content but a fairly high solvent content - to remove the greasy film and leave only sufficient wax to form an easily-cleaned barrier to future deposits of dirt. In the case of antique furniture, the important thing to ensure is that the polish you use will not remove all the previous oiling or waxing. You should, therefore, avoid polishes which have a high solvent content• Glue an envelope onto the inside of the cover of a box of stationary, to hold stamps, labels, addresses, etc. Cut off the upper hand corner of slide mounts inverted for projection and you will always know how to feed them into the machine.
