THE MAN BEHIND THE VOICE 14 Tommy Rosney is one of the longest established and also one of the most popularD.J.s on the local radio scene. A native of Sligo, and one of the most famous heads in Let– terkenny, the GoodOle CountryBoy has fans from Dungloe to Derry, not forgetting Victoria/ Bridge and even Scotland would you believe, where they have been picking up his Country Show on Donegal Community Radio recently. So what makes Tommy tick? Well read on you good ole country folks, because "The Leader" has done it again. One night last week, as Tommy handed over to Mickey of the Bradley's after another mega-successful show on D.C.R., we lay in wait and as he left the studio, our action news reporter ambushed the Country Boy and made him bare his soul to the nation. The Leader - Who had the greatest influence on your broadcasting career, TommY'f Tommy - Well, I must say, Richard Crowley and Jerome Keeney, who started me off with a country music show on the old Radio Donegal, back in 1981. I am very thankful to them and also to Bobby Mc Daid for the last 2 years on D.C.R. Your miscellaneous likes? Spending all my time with wife Margo and baby Louise.Also going out for an evening and a bit of crack with my good friend J.J. Dislikes? People who give the impression that they know everything and at the same time know nothing. Also rude people. Which person in the world would you most like to meet,Thomas? Whoever hands out the big money in the lottery. N.F.Y.C. INrOQMATION DAY The Donegal Federation of Youth Clubs held an Information Day in Loreto Convent, Let– terkenny on Saturday 8th October, 1988. Mr. Peter McBride represented the Knights of Col– umbanus, and Mr. A.Wicks on behalf of the Rot– ary Club attended the Information Day. Mr. Jimmy Cummiskey, the President of the Na– tional Youth Federation, was the guest speaker and he outlined the new structures in the Na– tional Federation. He also paid a tribute to An– nette Patton, the Regional Development Officer for Donegal, for all the good work she does throughout Donegal. Then an input was given on the proposed new structures in Donegal. The Information Day was well attended by Youth Clubs throughout Donegal, and a video was shown which included Youth Club activities Best place visited? Well, I haven't travelled very far in my lifetime but I reckon anywhere in lreand if you get good weather. Favorite Expression? "That's what I'm saying" and "At all at all at all." Hobbies- Playing soccer, swimming, watching Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps. Best Friends - Wife MArgo-a-nd Baby Louise. Outside the family, J.J. Dorrian favorite actors- Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood and Uncle Emmet. Favorite actress - My wife Margo when she's looking for something and Doreen Mullen. Favorite food - Anything that doesn't talk back and steak. Best book you read latel}' - the Beano. Favourite music - Country 101% but have ears for all kinds of music. Favourite artistes - Ricky Skaggs and Randy Travis. What is you favou~i_t~~!l:lime .~O.!).Q., Tommy? I don't know about all-time, but one of my favourite songs is "Highway 40 Blues" by Ricky Skaggs. Favourite T.V. Show - Dallas and Match of the Day Personal Ambitions - To be healthy and happy. But, but, Country Boy, you only had 3 minutes to li~e, wh_at would yo~ do? Boil a 2 minute egg.
