The recent ammunition finds in County Donegal did not surprise those of us in the know in Dublin. It has been known for some time that Brit– ishArmyAir Corp pilots have been flying inside the Republic and taking photographs - with the Irish Government's permission, no less. The pilots were made aware that they were allowed to fly as far as five miles from this side of the border if an order was received from an Army chief. It is known how– ever, that the ambitious photographers are flying further south than is being permitted. The "Lynx" helicopters and "Beaver• planes that are being used for111ESE CROSSBORDEREXCURSIONS are fitted with infra-red equipment to enable them to take photographs. The data being collected is sent toDublin and as a result there has been an increase in arms searches in border areas. People living in border areas are now begin– ning to get worried about the possibility of an IRA attack on one of the helicopters. The Authorities on both sides of the border claim that these excur– sions happen by accident and they deny that there is any agreement regarding the crossborder sur– veillance. She belongs to Robert Ward of Kerrykeely, who's in the business of selling Nissans but enjoys an occasional drive in this lovely immaculately kept Ford of yesteryear, which came complete with size 17 wheels and a wood floor. This model was actually replaced in '58 by the familiar 100E, so Robert's is one of the very last populars of this type produced. Fitted with an 8hp engine, the clock says 90mph ?? She was first reg– istered in England on 15th July 1958 and bears the registration number FP 8176 Letterkenny Buncrana Twins Mark and Kevin mcLean are from outside Letterkenny. They're 14 years old and students at Letterkenny Vocational School, Windyhall. Mark is keen on art while Kevin likes metalwork but as yet they haven't followed in the footsteps of their fa~ous father, and taken up music. Yes, the name is familiar, and the boys' dad is the one and only Mr. Hugh McLean.
