The fjrst day is deceptive. It i s 1.1.:Q easy. You feel as if you could give Eamonn Coughlin a run for the 1500 metres. The secone day is a diffe r ent. kettle of fish and by midday you feel like a cross between Frankenstein and the Coward of t he County. Your head is like a balloon, your eyes burn and your throat feels like the special super-hot pits of Hell that they keep for Minister's of Finance, Child Murderers and the like. But you survive the first couple of weeks (vell so did C.J.)against all the. odds. It is important at this stage to avoid what the old missionaries used to call "occasions of habit", i.e. stay away from wakes a;1c 1 sessions of all kinds.
