MeGarvey's Furniture we .extend to all ·our Customers A Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year Man Swallows Dog Well, thank the Big Fellow up above, the recent b,y– election ( Qr is it bye?) is over, my palms are blistered shaking hands with every politician. from here to the great Blasket Islands. Talking of great Blaskets, who are these guys anyway? Going into Jlfass - shake, shake. Coming out again - shake, shake. Going shopping - shake, shake. Open the front door - shake, shake. Even in the most sacred of places - the Bar i~ Hudai Beags, no peace - shake, shake, squeeze, squeeze, kiss, kiss. Was I being singled out? What have they· against me? Or \.fas everybody receiving the same treatment? Even driving along the road, eyes follow your every move from telephone and electricity poles. Well, as I said it's all over now ('though some of the faces are still staring from the poles1) Yawn, Ya\-ln. The Oireachtas beer drinking fes t i val is gone also. It lasted ten days during which pubs had extended hours for dedicated contestants. A huge hole has mysteriously appeared in the main street in Ja1.carrach stopping all traffic. A spokesman for Ghe ·baffled Falcarrach gardaf told Guth 7 Tuairim's cri:ne correspondent, 11 we are still looking into it 11 • ·• well known Dungloe publican had a near heart– c:ttack at J.lass last Sunday wben he put t,.ro-pence in the collection plate and the stri ng broke. ~~y years ago in Donegal thP.re was a famous footballer ~•ho went by the name of Gerry Hat Trick. He acquired this handle b,y his ability to deposit the ball in the back of his opponent's net on numerous occasions during a match. While watching Gweedore Celtic Reserves in recent weeks it has come to my attention that moat of the team performed similar to Gerry's name. No, not like Gerry Hat Tricks– more like Geriatrics. 13 CBCBCBCBCBCBC~BCBCBCBCBCBCBCBCBCBC~K;BCBCBCBCB Well, good buddies, it looks as if the good old days &re over if the Minister for P 7 T Mr. Albert Raynolds has I his way. He has finally decided to legalize.C.B. Radio on, 22 Channels, t watt power. This is very bad ne~s f or CB 1 ers as it will be difficult to copy anyone any further than 2 miles distant from a stationary wrapper. This is totally unacceptable and we believe it should be scrapped in favour of the universal system. We consider it a disgrace to the Government that they have allowed thousands of expensive CB units into the country and collected duty and V.A.T. on them only to prevent people from using them under penalty of ridiculously high fines. Under the new law it is possible to be fined.from £500 to £10,000. It is up to every breaker to let the Department and their T.D.'s know that we will not rest until t~ey agree to give us a proper C.B. service instead of the mickey-mouse service they are offering at the moment. We, the Big Ears would like to wish all the breakers in the N.W. 20 a very merry Christmas and happy modulating in the New Year on 27 HGB.
