LOCH AN IUIR The 11 Ave Haria 11 now lies anchored in Loch an Iuir bay, a beauty to admire, The launching took place on Saturday 27th August, watched by many spectators. The boat is the property of Dan(Ger~rd) Boyle who transformed her from a shell to a very fine fleasure boat, She certainly adds to the beautJ of the lake, I ndiaidh saoire a chaitheamh i Loch an Iuir as Canada, ta Sfle Nf Lionain no Cissie Doney Dhonaill agus a beirt clainn<'• Is as Loch an Iuir c5 dhuchais do Cissie agus bhi' cona{ uirthi in DUn Dealgan sul a deachaigh si' go Canada a chona{ le na clann, At the annual band competition in &n1doran on Sunday 5th September the Loch an Iuir ~a came in third place in the junior section, This is the first time since their formation that they did not capture first prize at this competition, having won the honours for four consecutive years in 1978, 1 79, '8C and '81. Anoia teacht an Gheimhridh beidh an ofche ag sineadh (i gcead do Rafartaigh) and I am sure that card playing will be raising it 1 s head. One thing I am sure of is that there will be no scarcity of prizes, mar go bhfuil neart turcaf bana ar Ard na Buaileadh. Beidh Nollaig shona againn. _ I wouldn't be surprised if a fir tree on Ard na gCaorach would be lit this Christmas as a Co~ity Christmas tree, It's talked about and could be a joint venture if diplomatic relatigns remain steady between Ceasan and Ird na Hionnarv'Ard na gCaorach. I hope it comes off, Bheadh s~ galanta os cionn an bhaile, I wonder did anyone in Loch an Iuir buy any of the aerial photographs or pictures of the village which were on offer lately. They were priced at from £160 to £200, You never kno¥1 nov where you are being photographed from so the next time you look up at a plane or helicopter be sure to smile, It could increase the value of the pictures.
