The Lower Rosses The people of the Burtonport area were very proud that "the Thatch" got a four pint rati!lg in the last issue of "Guth 7 Tuairim". It must be attributed to good ·family management by Margaret and Dinnie. We wish them luck for Pub of the Year• Con and Packin 1•ere busy during the election. They found a 15 ft. ladder 7ery handy for the posters. Packin ,_..-ent off the fags, unlike Naul who went heavy on the cigars (keepi!lg up wi th the big brass??). John Patrick stopped making coffins, Condy and Begley T.D. stopped whistling, Katie stopped Andrews. But all credit must go to Hugh HcCole, Burtonport, who helped F'ackin and Con and his cousin Naul. Hugh was 80 last month. Burtonport Dispensary was badly flooded a few weeks ago. When the Doctor arrived, crowds were lined ·up to the Cope. Con !.Jas not to be found as he was away with Charlie that day. Leapy was very distressed at the flooding and Charlie Neddy had to drive her home. A big discussion took place in Hunt' s last ,...-eek about what P.G. stood for. Hudie said that Charlie McCole, Patrick Murray and· Con Boner all had it.
