Gaoth Dobhair, "Cearta Gael" dont speak for the people of Gaoth Dobhair. We have democratically elected representatives so if they have any grievances they should go'to them. Or do they think they are a shadow government? Le meas, s. a. a. A Chara, An ~nbeag, 26/3/ 1 80. Nil aon rud agam i n-eadan "Cearta Gael" ach amhain a gcuid modhanna1 oibre. There are men in H-Block for lesser crimes. A Chara, Mise le meas, "Eireannach 11 • I found the ·article on Fife and Drum bands in your last issue very interesting. However, I would not totally agree with the writer, P. Ferry. For instance, he left out the Dungloe A.O.H. Band who were the only real professional band in the County during the late forties and early fifties. Of course they read their music , unlike the bands he mentioned who just le~rn by ear. Mr. Ferry leans a lot tmrards the Keadue Band. But he should remember that it was not until the Dungloe Children's School Band was started and specially trained by John Gallagher, Peadar Quinn and drum Instructor Mr. McGeehan from Doochary that the whole pattern of Bands and music was changed. Next, A cres start ed a Children's School Band under John 0 1 Donnell, N.T. with Mr. McGeehan again as Instructor. They won the All-Ireland Title once, were 2nd another year and also won 3 Ulster titles. Nine members of this Band joined the Keadue Band when they left school. Credit is also due to an ex Irish Army man who taught the Keadue Band proper marching . So I think you should give credit where credit is due Mr. Ferry. Anyway I hope the Keadue Band keep on winni ng and take more trophies to the Lower Rossesl Mise le meas, "Interested".
